LSJS alumni event passes the test

There was great excitement last Thursday at the LSJS alumni event that saw graduates from the past three years come together in person. Graduates from SCITT, School Direct (Primary and Secondary), as well as BA and MA Jewish Education, were joined by LSJS staff who enjoyed hearing how their former students were doing in their careers since finishing their studies.

Alumnus of the MA Jewish Education, Efraim Lerner, who now runs Br1ne, a consultancy company that supports students, organisations and local authorities to access meaningful education shaped by their unique culture and values, said: "The alumni event showcased the warmth of LSJS and its graduates' impact in shaping students across UK Jewish schools. It was a refreshing reminder that students are in the hands of educators who are deeply passionate about the future of Jewish education, in this country and beyond”.

The alumni of the teacher training programmes are working in a variety of schools, teaching children aged 4-18. The degree graduates have gone on to achieve qualified teacher status through LSJS or have used their degrees to further their careers in Jewish education.

Every week 11,500 adults and children are taught by MA graduates and every day nearly 15,000 children are taught by teachers who trained at LSJS.

LSJS CEO, Joanne Greenaway, said how proud LSJS is “of all our alumni. It’s been fantastic hearing about the paths they have taken since they’ve graduated”.

Dinner was followed by a light-hearted quiz organised by Dr. Helena Miller, LSJS Director of Degrees and Teacher Training programmes, to see how well alumni remembered their years at LSJS.
