The Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship gives you the chance to learn on the job, working as part of a teaching team from day one. You’ll learn from experienced, practising colleagues and immediately begin applying your new skills in the classroom. The course combines an intensive programme of initial teacher training with real experience and responsibility, aiming to develop your competence, confidence and skills in a secondary school setting. You’ll gain teaching experience across at least two key stages within the 11–18 age range.

This programme is a partnership between the London School of Jewish Studies and the following schools; Yavneh College, Hasmonean High School, JFS, Immanuel College, and King Solomon High School. You can apply to be based in any Jewish secondary school, including those outside of London.

As part of the programme, you will be employed by your chosen school and trained by us, working full-time (or part-time if agreed with the school) and taking responsibility for both planning and assessment. The course includes one week based at your host school and one week at our campus during term time, as well as bespoke one-to-one mentoring, regular lectures and weekly observations.

You'll also benefit from a swap to teach in another partnership school, subject-specific sessions (such as behaviour management, assessment techniques and adaptive teaching, general pedagogy training, a placement in a different school and visits to both a primary school and special needs school.

With the Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship, by the time you gain QTS, you will have had substantial work experience and in-school face to face time with students.

Learning with us is proven to prepare trainees for teaching positions. The majority of our graduates are successfully employed on completion of the course (in either the trainee's host school or a different school)

You will be ready to take on additional responsibilities as a teacher and our track record has shown that many of our graduates have progressed quickly into middle and senior leadership roles.

Apprentices will begin their teaching career on at least salary band U1.

Candidates who are undertaking the Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship will have their fees paid for them by the schools through the government Apprenticeship Levy.
