DISCO DELIVERANCE:“WE WILL SURVIVE,

 Lyrics by Anna Morrison Markowitz

(Sung to the tune of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”)

Moses:

First I was afraid -

I was petrified.

Kept thinking I’m just not a public speaking

kind of guy.

But then I spent too many nights

Seeing how you’d done them wrong,

And I grew strong.

Yes, I learned how to get along!

Pharoah:

So now you’re here,

Back in my face.

You’ve brought us pestilence and famine,

Now I want you off my case!

I should have let your people go,

When the locusts ate our grain.

Now our firstborn have been taken,

And you’ve caused us so much pain!

Go on now, go!

Walk out the door.

Don’t turn around now -

You’re not welcome anymore.

Weren’t you the ones to bite the hand

that held your pie?

Without me, you’ll crumble -

You’ll all lay down and die!

CHORUS:

No, we’ve got Chai -

We will survive!

As long as we trust in our G-d

We know we’ll stay alive.

Our numbers will be countless

As the stars up in the sky.

Yes, we’ll survive…

We will survive!

Moses:

It took all the strength we had,

Not to fall apart.

Now G-d has heard the weeping

Of our broken hearts.

You know we spent too many years

Sweating, hungry, and abused

We used to cry -

But now we hold our heads up high!

So now you’ll see

Somebody new.

We’re not that chained up little people

Once enslaved by you.

So if you decide to chase us,

Don’t expect it to be free.

Our G-d will surely save us,

Guide us through the parted sea!

Pharoah:

Go on now, go!

Walk out the door.

Don’t turn around now -

You’re not welcome anymore.

Weren’t you the ones to bite the hand

that held your pie?

Without me, you’ll crumble

Yeah, you’ll lay down and die!

CHORUS:

No, we’ve got Chai -

We will survive!

As long as we trust in our G-d

We know we’ll stay alive.

Our numbers will be countless

As the stars up in the sky.

Yes, we’ll survive…

We will survive!

Yeah, we’ve got Chai -

We will survive!

These miracles of freedom

G-d delivered long ago -

Still we tell our children,

So the story they will know.

We will survive!

We have survived!!!!

HEY, HEY!

Let us go – A frozen melody

The Jews work hard building tonight… with no time to pray

They work for evil Pharo, without any pay

They cry out to Hashem, hoping they’ll be heard

God tells Moses….“He is most disturbed”

Pharo said “No! don’t set them free”

He’s the bad guy who brought us misery

But Gods strong hand began to show…

And thus said Mo

Let us go, let us go

Or there will be 10 plagues, no more

Let us go, Pharo

Say the word and were out the door

Here I stand, and here I say

Let us all go out

The sand doesn’t bother us anyway

It’s funny how the plagues made everything ok

Pharos men couldn’t…. stand in Hashems way

First there was blood, frogs and lice

Believe me it wasn’t nice

Hail & boils, locusts too

Yes its true

Let us go, God let us go

We were gone before the dawn

Let us go, God let us go

So we eat chametz no more

At Pesach time, we have so much fun

Bring the seder on…

The Jews had to leave so fast, the bread could not bake

So we eat matzot for 8 nights and for 8 days

There was no time to wait, we were free from misery

Shout out loud…. we were free from slavery

Let us go, God let us go

We were gone before the dawn

Let us go, God let us go

So we eat chametz no more

At pesach time, we have so much fun

Bring the seder on…

Mah Nishtana Halayla Hazeh

A Few of My Favourite Things
(Sung to the tune of "These are a few of my favourite things")

Cleaning and cooking and so many dishes

Out with the hametz, no pasta, no knishes

Fish that's gefillted, horseradish that stings

These are a few of our passover things.

Matzoh and karpas and chopped up haroset

Shankbones and kiddish and yiddish neuroses

Tante who kvetches and uncle who sings

These are a few of our Passover things.

Motzi and maror and trouble with Pharoahs

Famines and locusts and slaves with wheelbarrows

Matzah balls floating and eggshell that cling

These are a few of our Passover things.

When the plagues strike

When the lice bite

When we're feeling sad

We simply remember our Passover things

And then we don't feel so bad.

Just a Tad of Charoset
(to the tune of "Just a spoon full of sugar")

Chorus:

Just a tad of Charoset helps the bitter herbs

go down,

The bitter herbs go down, the bitter herbs go down.

Just a tad of Charoset helps the bitter herbs

go down,

In the most delightful way.

Oh, back in Egypt long ago,

The Jews were slaves under Pharaoh

They sweat and toiled and laboured

through the day.

So when we gather Pesach night,

We do what we think right.

Maror, we chew,

To feel what they went through.

Chorus

So after years of slavery

They saw no chance of being free.

Their suffering was the only life they knew.

But baby Moses grew up tall,

And said he'd save them all.

He did, and yet,

We swear we won't forget.

That......

Chorus

While the Maror is being passed,

We all refill our water glass,

Preparing for the taste that turns us red.

Although Maror seems full of minuses,

It sure does clear our sinuses.

But what's to do?

Its here for me and you

Chorus
