LSJS Class of 2023: the community is in good hands

Tuesday 18th July 2023

There was a packed hall at Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue on Thursday evening for the 2023 London School of Jewish Studies Graduation, with 70 students graduating from a range of programmes. Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis KBE, President of LSJS, awarded the graduates with their certificates and guest speaker Leo Noé gave an inspirational speech. He explained how by embracing education, we become investors in our faith.

The graduates were delighted to come together to share the special occasion with their friends and family, as well as have the opportunity to thank their teachers.

MA Jewish Education graduate Esther Cohen said: “LSJS gives wings to our dreams, opening doors we did not know existed. Our wonderful and incredibly dedicated tutors believe in us more than we believe in ourselves. They genuinely care for each student as if we are their one and only.”

Dr Helena Miller, Director of Degrees and Teacher Training Programmes, Senior Research Fellow commented: “We are so proud of the achievements of every one of our graduates. They will each be an enormous asset to Jewish education in the UK and beyond.”

Chief Executive Joanne Greenaway added: “The graduation is a real highlight in the communal year. It was such a joy to see the culmination of all the students’ learning and hear from them about its impact on their lives. We are blessed in the community to have so many people looking to make a difference and shape the future of Jewish education.

LSJS offers a range of routes to teacher training qualification through School Direct (Primary and Secondary), School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) and Assessment Only leading to qualified teacher status (QTS).
