With an introduction by Lady Elaine Sacks, this is the annual lecture from the Rabbi Sacks Chair of Modern Jewish Thought, established by the Zandan family.
Meaningful regular prayer is a challenge for many modern Jews, but an in-depth study of the Kaddish can be surprisingly helpful.
In this free public lecture you will find out how a short, post-Talmudic, mostly Aramaic text came to be inserted into all our daily public services, and why some versions of the Kaddish are said by mourners and others by the chazan. The Kaddish points to a more mature relationship with God that can transform your experience of Jewish prayer.
Rabbi Zarum’s insights are the result of his recent completion of a year of mourning for his father, Arieh Zarum. The lecture is dedicated to his memory.
