Annual Conference for Jewish Studies Teachers
LSJS recognises the importance of ongoing professional development for Jewish Studies teachers. In 2011, LSJS and the Institute for the Professional Development of Jewish Studies (IPDJS) identified the need for a conference dedicated to Jewish Studies teacher development. In July of that year, we ran our first conference, which attracted a wide range of Jewish Studies professionals. Over the years we have continued to build on the success of the conferences in both session and delegates.
The conference is the largest of its kind in Western Europe. Each year it attracts almost 200 teachers from across the UK, teachers who are responsible for the Jewish education of an estimated 6000 children.
Conference presenters are chosen from the best practitioners in the UK and around the world. Each year we are supported by the regular presence of Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis (and previously Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks).
