NEW from LSJS, Living the Chagim has been devised to help you in your practical and philosophical preparation for the Jewish festivals - as an individual, within your family and as part of your community.
It will equip you to understand and appreciate the structure, power and deep meaning of each of the festivals as the year unfolds.
The Jewish Festivals – or Chagim – are the very pulse of Jewish life, give the calendar year its highlights and provide an opportunity to gain deep insights into the purpose and significance of being a Jew.
This new LSJS course will look at how to get the most out of each festival, including:
· Making fasting a meaningful experience at Yom Kippur
· Bringing the Seder night to life at Pesach
· Hearing the cry of the Shofar in a new light on Rosh Hashannah
· Understanding the simplicity, beauty and message of Succot
· Delving into the theme of concealment in Purim
· Understanding the miraculous promise of redemption at Chanukah
Living the Chagim also examines the nature of the chagim that have emerged due to the miracle of the modern State of Israel. Above all, Living the Chagim offers you the opportunity to learn about the key ideas, uplifting prayers and central mizvot of each festival and to always be prepared for the next one.
The course is divided into three part sections that anticipate the up-coming chag as the year progresses.
