Weekly Torah study has always been the backbone of Jewish learning and commitment. Building on last year’s very successful course, we are again inviting the best and the brightest of the rabbis, scholars and educators of Anglo-Jewry and beyond to give a class on the weekly Torah portion. But with a difference... .
This year, our teachers will focus on the commentary of the Ramban, R. Moshe ben Nachman Girondi (Nachmanides) – a leading medieval Jewish scholar, rabbi, philosopher, physician, and kabbalist. His truly original commentary on the Torah, the last of his works, is intermingled with aggadic and mystical interpretations, and is based upon a careful reading of Torah’s language and form.
All texts will be translated and classes involve gaining an overview of the sedra, studying key commentaries of the Ramban and discovering new ideas and important contemporary lessons. Let us take you from the beginning of Bereishit to the end of Devarim and ensure that you are always prepared for the coming Shabbat Torah portion.
A timetable of sedra dates, teachers and class titles will be available on our website in September and will be updated regularly. This course is accessible to everyone.
