This degree course has been designed to help you in your professional development, as well as to broaden your knowledge and skills in the broad field of Jewish education.



Working in partnership with the highly respected Education Department of King’s College London, LSJS’s MA in Jewish Education offers a unique learning experience with some of the UK’s leading experts.

Course structure and accreditation

 

You will take two modules in Jewish Education:

 

·               Philosophies of Jewish Education - explore the major philosophies and theories of Jewish education. Enter the debate over Jewish Studies curricula and form your opinion about who should learn what, and when.

 

·                From Theory to Practice.  The Contexts of Jewish Education – discover how educational visions shape schools in the real world. You will also examine the historical, economic and sociological contexts of Jewish education, and learn about the different challenges of informal and adult education.

 

You will also select two modules from the wide range on offer in the modular MA Education programme at King’s College. Popular selections include: Psychology & Learning, Education Management, Religious Education and Educational  Assessment - for more details visit www.kcl.ac.uk

 

Finally, you will write a dissertation (20,000 words) on a topic within Jewish Education.

 

Study times & term dates

 

1st term – start Sept 2010

 

All Jewish Education classes will be taught between 5:15pm and 7:45pm at the LSJS campus in Hendon, London. Other modules are taught at the Waterloo campus of King’s College, London, usually from 5:30pm to 8:00pm.
