Continuing the best traditions of Jews’ College, LSJS offers a range of courses that draw on both traditional and academic scholarship. You will be taught by leading rabbis and lecturers, in an atmosphere that is an exciting blend of beit midrash and university seminar. Each week, lecturers will suggest optional follow-up reading that you can do in your own time to enhance your understanding of the subject.

To suit your interests, you may transfer between Jewish Law (p.48-49), Modern Jewish Philosophy (p.50-51) and Judaism & Western Culture (p.52-53) at the start of any term with the approval of the course convenor.
Get credit for your learning
If you are considering applying for a degree course in the future, especially our MA Jewish Studies or MA Jewish Education, you may wish to work towards an LSJS Certificate or Diploma. Each term, you will be asked to write an essay on the course material. Upon successful completion of three essays, you will earn 30 credit points.
