As one of our greatest prophets, Shmuel bridged two fascinating periods of Jewish history. Out of the chaos of the Judges, he introduced a new political and social structure. Yet he was a reluctant kingmaker who fought against the idea of the monarchy. We will examine his miraculous birth, his inspirational leadership and his role in the success and failure of his protégé King Saul.
