The peasant who became a prophet
Plucked from obscurity, Elisha is not the most obvious choice to succeed the great prophet Eliyahu, yet he performs miracles at least as wondrous as those of his mentor. He forges his own path and develops a very different style of spiritual leadership. Elisha helps both the poor and the powerful and is beloved by the people which makes his betrayal by those closest to him even more surprising.
Using both traditional and modern commentaries, we will attempt to reveal the man behind the stories in the second Book of Kings and explore the challenges he faced.
